The Retaining the Harvest Model
The Retaining the Harvest (RTH) Model is a structured, proven approach to church growth that ensures members stay engaged, connected, and actively involved in the ministry. Developed by Jackson M. Doggette Jr., the RTH Model helps pastors build thriving congregations through a strategic 12-step process divided into four key phases: Planning, Building, Growing, and Celebration.
Phase 1: Planning (Steps 1-5)
A strong foundation is essential for sustainable church growth. The Planning Phase establishes the vision, philosophy, and tools needed for long-term success.
Phase 2: Building (Steps 6-9)
With a solid plan in place, the next step is to build a strong and committed community.
Phase 3: Growing (Steps 10-11)
At this stage, the church shifts its focus to deepening relationships and fostering continuous engagement.
Phase 4: Celebration (Step 12)
The final phase acknowledges the progress made and reinforces a culture of gratitude and motivation.
The Retaining the Harvest Model is more than just a system—it’s a transformational approach to church leadership. By following this structured process, pastors can create a thriving ministry filled with engaged members who live out their faith and contribute to a flourishing church community.
